A Florida family with roots in classic vaudeville shows will be bringing its one-ring indoor circus to the Pelham Civic Complex on Feb. 25-26.
The Piccadilly Circus, named after a traditional London circus, will hold shows on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The circus will feature many traditional performances, such as a trained sheep dog act, elephants and acrobats, but will close out the show with an interactive special effects display, said circus Promotional Director Cuinn Griffin.
The circus will also feature elephant and pony rides and a petting zoo before the performances.
Pre-show tickets are buy-one-get-one-free for adults, and are $30. Tickets for kids younger than 13 are free if purchased online or through the use of a coupon found at many Pelham businesses.
Day-of-the-show tickets are $32 per adult, and are $11 per child without a coupon.
Griffin said the Pelham performances will be among the nearly 300 shows the circus puts on in dozens of cities across the country each year. Before the Pelham show, the circus performed in Batesville and Starkville, Miss.
“We move really fast. We usually play about 16 shows a week in five to six towns a week,” Griffin said, noting the circus often arrives in a city, performs and departs for its next performance on the same day.
