Hornets win three games in tournament

The Chelsea High School softball team won three games in the Hewitt-Trussville tournament Feb. 24-25.

The Hornets defeated Gardendale 8-7.

Erin Jones led Chelsea at the plate as she went 3-for-3 with a homer. Jones also drove in three runs and scored a run.

Caitlin Bice finished 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Jo Jo Johnston went 2-for-2 and scored two runs.

Allie Luster, who drove in two runs and scored one run, finished 1-for-3 with a double. Alex Osborn went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Kacie Craft and Maygen Boaz each finished 1-for-3.

Bice earned the win in the circle after giving up three earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts in three innings.

Osborn gave up four runs, including three earned runs, on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks in five innings.

Chelsea defeated Pell City 7-2.

Osborn and Jordan Gray each homered in the victory. Jones led the Hornets with two hits.

Bice, Craft and Brooke Lanzi finished with one hit each. Craft earned the win after giving up two earned runs on two hits with three strikeouts and a walk in five innings.

The Hornets defeated Pleasant Grove 3-1.

Bice, Johnston, Luster, Osborn and Gray finished with one hit each in the win. Luster drove in two runs.

Bice earned the win after giving up one earned run on four hits with two strikeouts in a complete game.

Chelsea fell to Hoover 3-2.

Luster led the Hornets at the plate as she went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in two runs. Bice also went 2-for-3 and scored a run.

Johnston, Jones and Amber McCarty added one hit each. Craft gave up three unearned runs on six hits with five strikeouts in a complete game.
