Warriors sweep doubleheader

The Thompson High School baseball team swept Jacksonville and Etowah in a high school baseball doubleheader Feb. 25.

The Warriors defeated Jacksonville 9-1.

Tyler Gamble led the Warriors at the plate after finishing 2-for-3 with a homer and a triple. Gamble drove in one run and scored two runs.

Colby Sherman finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Andrew Smith went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Hunter Rigney earned the win on the mound after giving up one earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in five innings.

Thompson defeated Etowah 10-1.

Smith led the Warriors at the plate as he finished 3-for-5.

Garrett Walters, Gamble and Sherman each finished with two hits each. Gamble drove in one run, while Sherman scored two runs.

Jake Walters earned the win on the mound after giving up one earned run on two hits with 12 strikeouts and four walks in six innings.
