Eagles swept by Covenant Christian in doubleheader

The Hope Christian School baseball team dropped a doubleheader against Covenant Christian Academy in its opening games of the season Feb. 27.

The Eagles fell to Covenant Christian 12-1 in their opening game.

Douglas Skinner recorded the lone hit for Hope Christian in the game. Phillip Clark scored the only run for the Eagles.

Skinner took the loss after giving up nine runs, including four earned runs, on seven hits with two strikeouts and three walks in two innings.

Matthew Hyde allowed three runs, including one earned run, on three hits with five strikeouts and three walks in five innings in relief.

Hope Christian fell to Covenant Christian 20-3 in the nightcap.

Skinner led the Eagles with one hit. Skinner, Clark and Hyde scored one run each.

Kaleb Arnold took the loss after giving up 11 runs, including six earned runs, on three hits with three strikeouts and four walks in 1 1/3 innings.

Dillon Thompson allowed nine runs, including five earned runs, on eight hits with three strikeouts and a walk in 3 2/3 innings in relief.
