Panthers top Calera to remain unbeaten

The Pelham High School softball team defeated Calera 15-0 to remain undefeated in high school softball action Feb. 29.

Caitlin Sapp led the Panthers (9-0) at the plate as she finished 4-for-4 with a triple and a double. Sapp drove in five runs and scored three runs in the victory.

Lindsey Pyle finished 3-for-4 with a stolen base and scored three runs. Whitney Gillespie, who drove in one run and scored two runs, went 2-for-2 with two doubles. Kristian Foster finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and four runs scored.

Becky Fox, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 1-for-1 at the plate.

Jennifer Davis earned the win in the circle after giving up just two hits with two strikeouts in three innings. Emily Spain struck out one batter in one inning in relief.

Shelby Clark and Kymber McGiboney led Calera with one hit each.

Somer Roberson took the loss in the circle after giving up 12 earned runs on 14 hit with one strikeout and three walks.
