Warriors sweep Buckhorn in doubleheader

The Thompson High School baseball team swept Buckhorn in a high school baseball doubleheader March 1.

The Warriors edged Buckhorn 4-3 in the opener.

Houston Davenport led Thompson at the plate as he went 3-for-3 and drove in a run.

Colby Sherman went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Blake Grille finished 2-for-3 and scored two runs.

Aron McRee earned the win after giving up three runs, including one earned run, on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks in six innings. Hunter Rigney allowed one hit and recorded two strikeouts in one inning in relief.

Thompson defeated Buckhorn 10-5 in the nightcap.

Dee Tolbert led the Warriors at the plate as he went 1-for-2 with a double. Tolbert drove in two runs and scored one run.

Phillip Davis, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 1-for-2 with a double. David Cox, who drove in two runs and scored one run, went 1-for-2.

Kenny Nabors started on the mound and gave up two earned runs on one hit with five strikeouts and five walks in three innings. Austin Sapp earned the win after giving up two earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and a walk in four innings in relief.
