FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Oak Mountain High School boys’ soccer team edged Hoover 1-0 in high school soccer action March 3.

The win marked the Eagles’ second win this season against the Buccaneers.

The first 20 minutes of the game saw Oak Mountain much more in control of its possession as they moved the ball around the pitch seemingly at will.

The Eagles continued to struggle in convering that possession into solid scoring opportunities, but their persistence would pay off in the 30th minute with a set play goal. Brandt Mace’s corner kick from the right was perfectly positioned for Gray Johnston to bury in the netting for the evenual game-winner.

Oak Mountain goalkeeper Brad Louis wasn’t really tested with a shot on goal in the match.
