Lions split doubleheader with Florence

The Briarwood Christian School baseball team split a doubleheader with Florence in high school baseball action March 3.

The Lions defeated Florence 3-0 in the opening game.

Ben Craft led the Lions at the plate as he went 1-for-3 with a double. Craft drove in two runs and scored one run in the victory.

Tanner Cunningham finished 1-for-3 and scored a run. Matthew Furuto went 1-for-3 and drove in a run.

Cole Pearson scored a run in the win.

Brayden Housel earned the win on the mound after giving up just two hits with three strikeouts in six innings.

Ben Craft earned the save after finishing with one strikeout in one hitless inning in relief.

Briarwood Christian fell to Florence 5-1 in the nightcap.

Ethan Simmons led the Lions as he went 2-for-3 and drove in a run.

Cole Pearson, Will Dyson and Ben Craft, who scored the Lions’ lone run, had a hit each.

Barnes Bankston took the loss after giving up five runs, including two earned runs, on six hits with five strikeouts and two walks in four innings.

Jake Bracewell allowed just two hits with five strikeouts in three innings in relief.
