Oak Mountain sweeps tripleheader

The Oak Mountain High School baseball team defeated Sparkman, Grissom and Hoover in a tripleheader March 3 in Huntsville.

The Eagles defeated Sparkman 6-3.

Cameron Bice led Oak Mountain at the plate as he went 2-for-3. Bice drove in a run and scored a run in the victory.

David Dahl, who drove in a run and scored a run, finished 1-for-3 with a double. Jay Thompson, who drove in a run and scored a run, went 1-for-2 with a double.

Nick Bietighofer earned the win on the mound after giving up three earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and two walks in five innings. Corey Price earned the save after pitching 1 1/3 hitless innings in relief.

Oak Mountain defeated Grissom 10-0.

Bice led the Eagles as he went 3-for-3 with a homer and drove in two runs in the victory.

Barrett Gossett, who drove in a run and scored a run, finished 2-for-2 with a double. Tyler Lee finished 1-for-2 with a homer and drove in two runs. Dahl went 1-for-2 with a triple and scored three runs.

Justin Hoyt earned the win after giving up just two hits with nine strikeouts in a five-inning complete-game shutout.

The Eagles edged Hoover 6-5 in their final game.

Dahl led Oak Mountain at the plate as he went 3-for-4 with a triple and two doubles while driving in one run.

Richard Greene finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Lee went 1-for-2 and drove in two runs. Gossett finished 1-for-4 and drove in two runs.

Chandler Clower earned the win after giving up four runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in four innings. Price earned the save after giving up one run on three hits with two strikeouts and a walk in three innings in relief.
