Panthers sweep Austin in doubleheader

The Pelham High School baseball team swept Austin in high school baseball action March 3.

The Panthers (9-0) won the opening game 9-0.

Robert Wilson led Pelham with two hits in the victory. Hunter Soleymani, Tanner Jackson, Thomas Lowery and Hunter Stovall added one hit each.

Lowery earned the win on the mound after giving up just two hits with 13 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout.

Pelham defeated Austin 12-1 in the nightcap.

Fletcher Johnson led the Panthers at the plate with his solo homerun in the victory.

Wilson, Soleymani, Parker Curry, Ty Pierce, Sam Finnerty and Zac King finished with one hit each in the win.

Soleymani, Finnerty and Curry combined for a perfect game through two hots in the fifth and final inning before Austin plated a run.

The Panthers have given up just three runs through nine games this season. All three runs have been unearned.
