The Coosa Valley Academy softball team defeated Chambers Academy 15-14 in its first area game of the season March 5.

Carlee Yarnell and Allison Craft led Coosa Valley at the plate as each went 4-for-5 and drove in one run.

Jessica Parris and Danielle Richardson each finished 3-for-4 at the plate. Parris drove in four runs, while Richardson added two RBIs.

Hope Myrick, Hannah Vick, Shelby Hurt and Terrie Sprayberry added two hits each in the victory. Kala Shaw finished with one hit. Vick drove in four runs. Myrick had two RBIs, while Hurt drove in one run.

Vick earned the win in the circle after recording four strikeouts in a complete-game victory.
