A pair of former Shelby County high school football standouts participated in the Auburn University Pro Day on March 6 to give professional football scouts an up close look at their physical ability on the gridiron.

Former Briarwood Christian School quarterback Barrett Trotter, who recently wrapped up his career with the Tigers after foregoing his final season of eligibility, and former Pelham High School running back Wes Holland, who just completed his collegiate playing career at the University of North Alabama, worked out with several Auburn seniors in front of National Football League scouts.

Trotter, who measured in at 6-feet, 215-pounds, posted a 4.82 time in the 40-yard dash. Trotter’s vertical jump measured 34 inches, while his long jump measured 9 feet, 8 inches.

Holland, the older brother of current Auburn linebacker Wes Holland, clocked in with a 4.71 time in the 40-yard dash. Holland measured in at 5-foot-10, 211 pounds.

Holland, who started out his career at the Naval Academy before playing his final two seasons at UNA, had a 29.5 vertical jump and 9-foot, 8-inch long jump.

Holland was clocked at 12.29 seconds in the 60-yard dash and did 19 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press.

The 2012 NFL Draft will be held April 26-28 in New York City.
