FROM STAFF REPORTS

On Tuesday, March 6, Northwestern Mutual of Alabama performed an act of kindness. They provided a Cheeriodical to all 238 children at Children’s of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham.

Led by Managing Partner Adam Rhoades, a team of Northwestern Mutual employees handed out boxes of cheer and visited with the patients who were well enough to come to the “Room of Magic” to get their Cheeriodical. Children’s of Alabama’s child life specialists delivered the gift boxes to the hospital rooms of those unable to attend.

The Cheeriodicals were age and gender specific and were full of fun things intended to entertain a child such as bouncy balls, puzzles, origami, bubbles, slime, play dough, crafts and, of course, magazines.

“It’s hard for a child to be in a hospital, and we are honored to have had the opportunity to come in and spread some cheer,” said Adam Rhoades, managing director of Northwestern Mutual of Alabama. “We are always happy whenever we have the opportunity to give back to the community and coming here and seeing these children smile when they open the box really helps put everything else in perspective.”

Cheeriodicals is headquartered in Mt Laurel. For more information about Cheeriodicals, visit Cheeriodicals.com.
