Lola Mae Benson, age 78, a resident of Columbiana, died on Thursday, March 8, 2012. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Bay Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Horton officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at Bolton Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 1-2 p.m.

Mrs. Benson is preceded in death by her husband, Ray E. Benson; a daughter, Sandra Mooney; and brothers, Johnny and Onnie Higgins. She is survived by her children, Victor Mooney (Cathy), Steve Benson (Denise), Terry Gould (Don), Sonya Bills (Darrel), Chris Benson (Faye), Marcia Garrett (Mark), Kirt Benson and Jonathan Benson (Kelley); 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Haisten, Betty Rinehart, Sara Howard and Brenda Horton; and numerous other family and friends.
