Oak Mountain sweeps Leeds in doubleheader

The Oak Mountain High School baseball team swept Leeds in a high school baseball doubleheader March 10.

The Eagles defeated Leeds 10-0 in the opener.

Heath Quinn led Oak Mountain at the plate as he went 3-for-3 with a homerun and a double. Quinn drove in two runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Barrett Gossett finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a homer and two doubles. Gossett drove in three runs and scored two runs. Connor O’Brien, who drove in a run and scored a run, went 1-for-2 with a double.

Nick Bietighofer and Jacob Bowman combined for a two-hit shutout. Bietighofer earned the win after striking out four batters and issued only one walk without giving up a hit in two innings.

Oak Mountain defeated Leeds 15-1 in the nightcap.

David Dahl led the Eagles at the plate as he went 2-for-2 with two doubles. Dahl also scored three runs in the victory.

Gossett finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles. Gossett drove in four runs and scored two runs. Quinn finished 1-for-3 at the plate with a triple and scored two runs.
