Vincent native top co-angler at Lay Lake event

Jason “Ryan” R. Davis of Vincent reeled in the largest catch by a co-angler in the Bassmaster Weekend Series event March 10 at Lay Lake to earn the top prize in the Alabama South Division co-angler competition.

Davis reeled in three bass weighing in at a total 12.67 points to edge Ethan A. Isbell of Columbiana, who finished second overall with his basket of three fish weighing in at 9.99 pounds.

Davis’ largest bass weighed in at 4.81 pounds, which was the second largest bass caught by a co-angler in the event.

Kyle Dorsett of Odenville won the boater competition after reeling in the limit of five fish, which weighed in at 21.39 pounds. Dorsett edged Justin H. Hamner of Northport, who came in second with his basket of five fish weighing in at 21.17 pounds.

Justin K. Seagle of Alabaster finished third after catching the limit of five fish, which weighed in at 20.41 pounds. Seagle’s largest bass weighed in at 4.76 pounds.
