FROM STAFF REPORTS

University of Montevallo senior Heath Peterson was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week after an amazing four-game stint last week.

Peterson, who led the Falcons to a pair of wins, including one against nationally-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University, earned the Falcons’ first Player of the Week award this season.

In four games last week, Peterson hit five home runs, including three grand slams, and had 18 RBIs. The senior launched his first grannie with his team down three in the top of the ninth in an 11-10 win over West Alabama.

In a three-game set with Armstrong Atlantic State, he hit .500 with two home runs in both the first and second games, including two grand slams, and drove in 14 runs. Peterson also doubled in the second game and six of his eight hits last week were for extra bases, giving him a 1.412 slugging percentage. Peterson now leads the conference in home runs, is second in RBIs and fourth in slugging percentage.

Peterson and the rest of the Falcons return to action Wednesday, March 21 at 6 p.m. as they host Stillman College in a non-conference game.
