Oak Mountain drops doubleheader in Hoover tournament

The Oak Mountain High School baseball team dropped a doubleheader with Hartselle and Tuscaloosa County on the opening day of the Baptist Health System Buccaneer Classic at Hoover High School.

The Eagles (12-7) fell to Hartselle 9-7 in their tournament opener March 19.

Cameron Bice blasted a three-run homer in the fifth inning to tie the game at 7-7. However, Hartselle scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to secure the victory.

Bice finished 1-for-4 at the plate and drove in three runs.

Barrett Gossett, who drove in one run and scored two runs, went 2-for-4 at the plate. Richard Greene finished 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs. David Dahl finished 2-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs.

Jacob Bowman took the loss after giving up two runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks in 5 2/3 innings.

Oak Mountain fell to Tuscaloosa County 12-3 in its second game in the tournament.

Greene led the Eagles at the plate as he went 2-for-3 with a homer and a double. Greene drove in three runs and scored one run.

Heath Quinn finished 2-for-4 at the plate and scored one run.

Corey Price took the loss on the mound after giving up six earned runs on 11 hits with three walks in 3 2/3 innings.
