Lightning sweep doubleheader

The Evangel Christian School baseball team remained unbeaten in Alabama Christian Sports Conference play after sweeping a doubleheader March 20 against Success Unlimited Academy of Montgomery on March 20,

The Lightning won the opener 14-0 before taking a 11-1 victory in the nightcap.  With the wins, Evangel Christian moved to 7-1 overall on the season.

Brandon Mackey (2-0) pitched a one-hit shutout in the opener, going the distance while striking out eight.

Colton Kimbrel had two doubles and drove in three runs to pace the Lightning offensively, while Colin Myers had a single and double and also drove in three runs.  Andrew Thompson, Daniel Ellis, and Josh Letson all added two hits for Evangel.

Letson (3-0) and Kimbrel combined for a one-hitter for the Lightning in the nightcap, with each striking out six batters.

Koty Watts had two hits and drove in three runs for Evangel. Matthew Earwood and Hahn-Hahn Lau each added two RBIs.
