Sue Ellen Vowell Patterson

Sue Ellen Vowell Patterson of Calera died on March 20, 2012. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Ill. on July 11, 1937. Her career encompassed banking and accounting. She was employed for more than 25 years with City National Bank achieving the title of vice president. She then managed the family accounting practice for 30 years. Sue was a tremendous asset to the practice and will be truly missed by their cliental, family and many friends.

She was predeceased by her father, Sondley Alexander Vowell; daughter, Karen Teresa Dickinson; and sons, Mark David Dickinson and John Cecil Patterson Jr. Survivors include Sue’s husband, John Cecil Patterson; mother, Mary Ellen Vowell; daughter, Camille Patterson Elliott; son-in-law, Paul Murphy Elliott; brother, Robert Lewis Vowell (Beverly); grandchildren, Benjamin Lee Aaron (Sherrie), Jon Matthew Aaron (Tiffany), Jon Ingram Staggs Jr, and Jordan Camille Staggs; great-grandchildren, Jacob Aaron, Logan Aaron, Samantha Aaron, Carlee Aaron, Natalie Aaron and Chasity Sepeuda; and nephews, Scott Vowell (Rhonda) and Sean Vowell (Wendy) and their boys.

Sue’s family will receive visitors from 1-2 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, with the 2 p.m. funeral service immediately following in the funeral home’s chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G Komen for the Cure, 1909 27th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35209.
