Hornets split doubleheader

The Chelsea High School softball team split a doubleheader with Holtville and Vestavia Hills in high school softball action March 24.

The Hornets defeated Holtville 6-2.

Caitlin Bice led Chelsea at the plate with two hits, including a double, in the victory. Bice also drove in one run.

JoJo Johnston added two hits, including a triple, and drove in one run.

Allie Luster finished with a double and drove in three runs in the victory.

Amanda Mock homered in the victory.

Alex Osborn earned the win in the circle after recording three strikeouts in five innings.

Chelsea fell to Vestavia Hills 5-2.

Kacie Craft and Amanda Mock led the Hornets with two hits each in the victory. Johnston, Luster, Osborn and Amber McCarty finished with one hit each.

Mock and McCarty drove in one run each.

Craft, who took the loss in the circle, finished with four strikeouts in a complete game.
