Lions shut out rival Hornets

The Briarwood Christian School baseball team defeated rival Chelsea 8-0 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 contest March 27.

Ben Craft led the Lions (16-4) offensively as he went 2-for-3 at the plate with a homer. Craft drove in three runs and scored one run in the victory.

Carter Tyra finished 2-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs. Daniel Robert finished 1-for-1 at the plate and scored three runs. Matthew Furuto went 1-for-1 at the plate and scored one run. Cole Pearson finished 1-for-4 at the plate with a double and drove in one run.

Ethan Simmons drove in two runs in the victory. Brayden Housel scored one run.

Cameron Adams earned the win on the mound after giving up just four hits with five strikeouts in a complete-game victory.

Matthew Graben, Alex Dean, Keelan Gregg and Brody Holder each finished 1-for-3 at the plate for the Hornets.

Ross Ham took the loss after giving up eight earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and six walks in five innings.

Christian Emmerke issued one walk without giving up a hit in one inning in relief.
