Chelsea tops rival Shelby County

The Chelsea High School softball team defeated rival Shelby County 9-6 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 contest March 29.

Caitlin Bice led the Hornets as she finished 3-for-4 at the plate. Bice drove in one run and scored two runs in the victory.

Allie Luster finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and scored two runs. Amanda Mock, who drove in two runs and scored one run, went 2-for-4 at the plate. Kacie Craft, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 2-for-4 at the plate.

Bice earned the win in the circle after giving up six runs, including four earned runs, on nine hits with five strikeouts and three walks in six innings. Craft earned the save after recording one strikeout in one scoreless inning in relief.

Kaitlyn Paschall led the Wildcats as she finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Paschall drove in two runs and scored one run.

Brianna Buie, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 3-for-3 at the plate. Courtney Shields went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Paschall took the loss after giving up nine runs, including eight earned runs, on 14 hits with one strikeout and one walk in a complete game.
