Eugene ‘Chig’ Pickett, age 82, of Montevallo passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 in Alabaster.

He loved the Lord, loved his church and loved his family. He was a longtime deacon at Macedonia.

Eugene was preceded in death by his daughter, Claudette Pickett; granddaughter, Jennifer Waldrop; brothers, Jimmy, Bud and Pete Pickett; and sister, Dean Lawley.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lanell Hyde Pickett; son, Darryl “Lloyd” Pickett (Robin); daughters, Donna Pickett Waldrop (Michael) and Glenda Pickett Smitherman (Tom); sisters, Shirley Pickett Ingram (Buddy) and Laverne Pickett Tucker; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 30, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Montevallo. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel Montevallo with interment to follow in Macedonia Cemetery.
