Rebels edge Chargers in rivalry game

The Coosa Valley Academy baseball team edged rival Cornerstone Christian 3-2 in high school baseball action March 27.

Hunter Winslett turned a double into an inside-the-park homerun in the sixth inning to score the game-winning run.

“Our guys had a gutsy performance,” said Coosa Valley coach Bobby Hughes. “Our guys competed and got after it.”

Winslett and Mims drove in one run each. Allen Logan led the Rebels (15-5) with two hits. Preston Parker added one hit.

Logan earned the win in the mound after giving up two earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in a complete game.

Tim Warren and Sterling Reither led the Chargers with two hits each. Dalton Lodge, Hagan Joiner and Auston Wingard finished with on hit each.

Austin Davis took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits with seven strikeouts in a complete game.
