Cougars clip Falcons in tennis match

The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team fell to Columbus State University 9-0 in a Peach Belt Conference match April 1.

The Falcons (6-12 overall, 0-8 in Peach Belt Conference) picked up just two individual game wins.

Freshman Meagan Stevens, a Hope Christian School graduate, won both of Montevallo’s single games as she fell 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles’ match.

Senior Helene Nordgreen and junior Lauren Blair teamed up to win four of Montevallo’s five doubles victories as they fell 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles’ match. Stevens and junior Amy McGucken picked up the Falcons’ only other victory as they fell 8-1 in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

The Falcons will look to get back on track this Wednesday, April 4 at 2 p.m. as they travel to the University of West Alabama.
