Eagles sweep rival Bulldogs

The Calera High School softball team swept a doubleheader with rival Montevallo in high school softball action April 3.

The Eagles defeated Montevallo 6-1 in the opener.

Shelby Clark led Calera offensively with four hits, including a triple, in the victory. Clark also drove in one run in the win.

Skyler Laird added two hits in the win. Kimber McGiboney finished with a double. Jocelyn Davis, Katie Eiland, Anna Seabury and Somer Roberson finished with one hit each in the win.

Laird, McGiboney and Roberson drove in one run each.

Roberson, who finished with four strikeouts, earned the win in the circle in a complete-game victory.

Addie Edwards led Montevallo offensively with three hits, including a double.

Alex Bolton added a double. Mallory Anderson, Megan Draper and Megan Dockery added one hit each.

Calera topped Montevallo 12-7 in the nightcap.

McGiboney led the Eagles with three hits, including a double, in the victory. Davis homered in the win.

Clark, Eiland and Seabury finished with two hits each. Roberson and Shelby Wright finished with one hit each.

Eiland, who finished with two strikeouts, earned the win in the circle in a complete-game victory.

Draper, Sachie Broadhead and Bolton, who finished with a double, led Montevallo offensively with two hits each.

Dockery, McKenna Anderson and Kaley Kornegay finished with one hit each.

Broadhead drove in two runs each. Erin Draper and Bolton drove in one run each.
