Lions defeat Talladega in area contest

The Briarwood Christian School baseball team defeated Talladega 14-1 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 contest April 3.

Ben Craft led the Lions offensively as he finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a homer. Craft drove in two runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Matthew Furuto finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of doubles and scored two runs. Cole Pearson, who drove in three runs and scored two runs, went 2-for-2 at the plate.

Carter Tyra, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Daniel Robert, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Kevin McKelvey and Tanner Cunningham each drove in one run and scored one run. Ethan Simmons scored two runs. Brayden Housel scored one run.

Cameron Adams earned the win on the mound after giving up just one earned run on three hits with four strikeouts and two walks in a complete-game victory.
