Wildcats top Lions in area contest


The Shelby County High School softball team defeated Briarwood Christian 5-2 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 contest April 11.

Kaitlyn Paschall led the Wildcats offensively as she finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Paschall drove in one run in the victory.

Brianna Buie, who finished 1-for-4 at the plate, drove in two runs and scored two runs. Courtney Shields went 1-for-4 at the plate with a double and scored two runs.

Anna Morgan earned the win in the circle after giving up two earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk in a complete-game victory.

Savannah Kolb led Briarwood Christian offensively as she finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double. Kolb drove in one run.

Morgan Reed went 1-for-2 at the plate and scored two runs. Ashlyn Boyd finished 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run.

Reed took the loss in the circle after giving up five runs, including one earned run, on eight hits with nine strikeouts in a complete game.
