FROM STAFF REPORTS

University of Montevallo volleyball coach Katie O’Brien has announced the Falcons will host a three-day summer camp from June 7-9.

The camp is open to all female athletes in grades 6-12. O’Brien and her coaching staff provide an energetic and active camp for young players who are dedicated to developing the skills necessary to play volleyball.

O’Brien is entering her fifth season with the Falcons’ volleyball program. During her first year, she turned around the program with 21 wins and the team returned to the Gulf South Conference tournament for the first time in four years.

In her second year, O”Brien once again coached the team to a postseason berth in the programs’ first season in the Peach Belt Conference. In her third season, she led the Falcons to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2000. She also coached the Falcons to their first ever NCAA tournament victory as Montevallo defeated Lincoln Memorial University in the first round.

O’Brien again led the Falcons to the Peach Belt Conference tournament this past season. O’Brien has developed tremendous athletes over her coaching reign and looks for Montevallo to be one of the premier programs of the Peach Belt Conference in the coming years.

Visit MontevalloFalcons.com for registration information. Cost for a day camper is $215, while a camper can stay overnight for $45 more at $260.

Registration and deposit are due by May 25. A group discount is also available for teams that send eight or more players. If eight or more teammates attend the camp, the team will receive a $25 discount off the price for the camp.

The camp will be under the direction of O’Brien and assistant coach Bailey Coleman. The camp will consist of the Falcons’ volleyball coaching staff, current and former Montevallo players and other collegiate and club coaches from around the area.
