John Earl Whitten, 73, of Pell City passed away April 12, 2012. Visitation was held April 14 from 6-9 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. Funeral service was held April 15 at 2 p.m. at the church. Interment was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Mr. Whitten is survived by his daughter, Janet Baltimore (Sonny); son, Jonathan Whitten (Tracy); special friend, Cindy Oden; six grandchildren, Craig Dobbs, Grant Grogan, Claire Grogan, Trip and Jackson and Oden and Brody; sister, Elizabeth Alley; and three brothers, Frank Whitten, Donald Whitten and Ronald Whitten. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Bowman Whitten.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Clair County Gideon or the John E. Whitten Memorial Scholarship Fund at Metro Bank.
