Lions sweep doubleheader against Bessemer Academy

The Kingwood Christian School softball team swept a doubleheader with Bessemer Academy in high school softball action April 14.

The Lions defeated Bessemer Academy 18-1 in the opener.

Kaylyn Ingram led Kingwood Christian offensively as she finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a homer. Ingram drove in five runs and scored three runs in the victory.

Karley Chamblee, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, finished 3-for-3 at the plate. Blair Holsombeck, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, went 2-for-2 at the plate.

Ingram earned the win in the circle after giving up one unearned run on one hit with one strikeout and one walk in a two-inning complete-game victory.

Kingwood Christian defeated Bessemer Academy 11-2 in the nightcap.

Kendall Jonseof led the Lions offensively as she finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a homer and a triple. Jonseof drove in three runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Madeline Lee, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a homer. Ingram, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, went 3-for-3 at the plate with a homer. Chamblee, who drove in two runs and scored one run, finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Lee earned the win in the circle after giving up two earned runs on three hits with eight strikeouts and six walks in a five-inning complete-game victory.
