No children were injured on April 17 after a truck and a school bus collided near the intersection of Shelby County 52 and Hollow Oak Drive in Helena, said Shelby County Schools spokeswoman Cindy Warner.

However, two occupants who were in the truck were transported to the hospital to be treated for their injuries, Warner said.

Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies were forced to close Shelby County 52 due to the wreck at about 4:20 p.m. The road was re-opened at about 4:40 p.m., according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook.com page.

The school bus was transporting children home from Helena Elementary School and Helena Intermediate School.

“All of the students and the bus driver were fine,” Warner said, noting the children were safely transported home on another bus after the wreck.

As of April 17, the names and conditions of the two truck occupants had not been released.
