The Briarwood Christian School boys’ tennis team swept all six singles’ championships and all three doubles’ championships at an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A section tennis tournament April 19 at the Pelham Tennis Center.

The Lions claimed the section championship after racking up 42 points, which edged Sylacauga by 21 points.

Griffin Russell of Briarwood Christian defeated Nathanell Killough of Sylacauga 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles’ championship match. Russell Hancock of Sylacauga defeated Will Killough of Sylacauga 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles’ championship match.

Philip Taylor of Briarwood Christian defeated Collin Minor of Sylacauga 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles’ championship match. Daniel Kuyk of Briarwood Christian defeated Cary Kimber of Sylacauga 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 5 singles’ championship match.

Lukas Castellanos of Briarwood Christian defeated Paul Morris of Sylacauga 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 in the No. 5 singles’ championship match. Connor Brewton of Briarwood Christian defeated Kody Woods of Sylacauga 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 6 singles’ championship match.

Russell and Hacock defeated Nathanell Killough and Will Killough 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 1 doubles’ championship match. Taylor and Kuyk defeated Minor and Kimber 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) in the No. 2 doubles’ championship match.

Castellanos and Brewton defeated Morris and Andrew Farr of Sylacauga 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 doubles’ championship match.
