Eagles sweep doubleheader against Success Unlimited

The Hope Christian School baseball team swept a doubleheader against Success Unlimited Academy in high school baseball action April 19.

The Eagles defeated Success Unlimited 26-0 in the opener.

Jesse Shoop led Hope Christian offensively as he finished 2-for-5 at the plate with a double. Shoop drove in three runs and scored three runs in the victory.

Phillip Clark, who drove in three runs and scored four runs, went 3-for-4 at the plate. Caleb Key, who drove in three runs and scored one run, finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Matthew Hyde, who drove in three runs and scored two runs, went 2-for-5 at the plate with a double.

Chandler Donegan, who drove in three runs and scored one run, went 2-for-5 at the plate. Bill Etheredge, who drove in two runs and scored one run, finished 2-for-2 at the plate.

Douglas Skinner went 1-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs. Dillon Thompson, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, finished 1-for-2 at the plate.

Isaiah Duncan scored three runs, while Andrew Martin plated two runs. Benjamin Clark and Trevor Harbin scored one run each in the win.

Etheredge earned the win on the mound after pitching a five-inning complete-game no-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Hope Christian defeated Success Unlimited 21-4 in the nightcap.

Martin led the Eagles offensively as he finished 4-for-5 at the plate. Martin drove in four runs and scored one run in the victory.

Shoop, who drove in one run and scored three runs, finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Matthew Hyde, who drove in four runs and scored three runs, finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple.

Jacob Hyde, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 1-for-2 at the plate. Daniel Clark finished 1-for-1 at the plate and scored four runs. Harbin, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 1-for-2 at the plate.

Thompson finished 1-for-4 at the plate with a double and drove in one run. Duncan, who drove in one run and scored two runs, went 1-for-2 at the plate. Alexander Skinner, who drove in one run and scored two runs, went 1-for-1 at the plate.

Brandon Hawkins drove in one run. Andrew Hale scored two runs, while Skinner and Key scored one run each.

Hawkins earned the win on the mound after giving up four runs, including three earned runs, on three hits with five strikeouts and six walks in a five-inning complete-game victory.
