Briarwood Christian anglers finish third in tournament

A pair of anglers on the Briarwood Christian School club bass fishing team posted a third place finish in an Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association region tournament April 21 at Pickwick Lake in north Alabama.

Grant Hyche and Sully Jeter of Briarwood Christian came in third in a field of more than 130 boats in the region tournament.

Hyche and Jeter reeled in the limit of five bass in the tournament, which weighed in at a total of 14.98 pounds. The pair’s biggest fish weighed 4.05 pounds.

Two other boats from Briarwood Christian competed in the tournament.

The Lions’ J.T. Russell and Jake Turnbloom finished 37th overall with five bass weighing in at a total of 8.54 pounds. Kyle Jennings and Thomas Jennings of Briarwood Christian didn’t reel in any bass and came in a 11-way tie for 121st overall.

Pelham fielded four boats in the tournament.

Tyler Howard and Jordan Humphries led the Panthers and finished 8th overall. Howard and Humphries reeled in the limit of five bass, which weighed in at 13.43 pounds.

The Panthers’ Drew Wilson and Billy Butler caught the limit of five bass, which weighed in at 8.21 pounds, and finished 40th overall. Clint Nicholson and Chris White of Pelham reeled in four bass, which weighed in at 8.04 pounds, and finished 47th overall.

Dalton Dewberry and Austin Handley of Pelham reeled in three bass, which weighed in at 4.15 pounds, and finished 92nd overall.

Chelsea fielded five boats in the tournament.

Tyler Boyle and Randy Joiner led the Hornets and finished 11th overall. Boyle and Joiner reeled in the limit of five bass, which weighed in in at 12.80 pounds.

Alex Boroughs and Landon Lowrey of Chelsea finished 19th overall after reeling in the limit of five bass, which weighed in at 10.25 pounds.

The Hornets’ Zane Loveday and Tanner Lee caught four bass, which weighed in at 6.27 pounds, and finished 70th overall. Kaleb Appling and Quintin Dorough of Chelsea came in one spot behind their teammates at 71st overall after reeling in three bass, which weighed in at 6.22 pounds.

Tray Davis and Hunter Preisendorfer of Chelsea came in 81st overall after reeling in three bass, which weighed in at 6.34 pounds.

Thompson fielded three boats in the tournament.

Austin Herring and Walker Morgan led the Warriors and finished 59th overall. Herring and Morgan reeled in four bass, which weighed in at 6.88 pounds.

Skylar Harris and Blake Green of Thompson finished 66th overall after catching the limit of five bass, which weighed in at 6.49 pounds. The Warriors’ Wes Ross and Kaleb Brown finished 89th overall after reeling in four bass, which weighed in at 4.54 pounds.

Oak Mountain fielded four boats in the tournament.

Will Taylor and Alex Roskam led the Eagles and finished 61st overall. Taylor and Roskam reeled in the limit of five bass, which weighed in at 6.79 pounds.

Brooks Phillips and Ben Pickett of Oak Mountain caught four bass, which weighed in at 6.51 pounds, and finished 65th overall. The Eagles’ Joe Farris and Grayson Davis reeled in three bass, which weighed in at 3.06 pounds, and finished 104th overall.

William Ireland of Oak Mountain, fishing without a co-angler, caught one bass weighing in at 1.02 pounds and finished 117th overall.

Spain Park fielded two boats in the tournament.

Reed Flippo and Dalton Brown led the Jaguars and finished 50th overall. Flippo and Brown caught the limit of five bass, which weighed in at 7.40 pounds.

Hunter Kelley and Jacob Kimes of Spain Park reeled in the limit of five bass, which weighed in at 5.89 pounds, and finished 77th overall.
