Briarwood Christian sweeps doubleheader

The Briarwood Christian School softball team swept a doubleheader with Shades Valley and McAdory in high school softball action April 21.

The Lions defeated Shades Valley 4-0.

Madison Chambers led Briarwood Christian offensively as he finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

Savannah Kolb finished 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and drove in one run. Rachel Walz went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double and scored two runs.

Ashlyn Boyd finished 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run. Natalie Kidd, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Morgan Reed scored one run.

Linley Splawn earned the win after giving up just five hits with two strikeouts and one walk in a complete-game shutout.

The Lions defeated McAdory 6-1.

Reed led Briarwood Christian offensively as she finished 4-for-4 at the plate with a homer and a triple. Reed drove in one run and scored three runs.

Walz finished 1-for-4 at the plate and scored one run. Boyd went 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run.

Chambers and Kidd each finished 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run each.

Reed earned the win in the circle after giving up just one earned run on four hits with nine strikeouts and one walk in a complete-game victory.
