Panthers fall to Vestavia Hills in tournament

The Pelham High School softball team fell to Vestavia Hills 6-4 in the semifinals of the Cullman tournament April 21.

Madi Walker led the Panthers offensively as she finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple. Walker drove in two runs in the victory.

Kristian Foster finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored one run. Whitney Gillespie went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run. Erin Whitman finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs. Becky Fox went 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run.

Emily Spain took the loss in the circle in relief after giving up three earned runs on five hits with one strikeout and one walk.

Gillespie allowed three earned runs on five hits with one strikeout and two walks in two innings.

The Panthers defeated tournament host Cullman 9-2.

Mary Morgan Dramer led Pelham offensively as she finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs.

Walker, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 2-for-3 at the plate. Caitlyn Sapp, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Whitman, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-1 at the plate.

Fox finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Spain went 1-for-2 at the plate and scored one run.

Gillespie earned the win after giving up just three hits with five strikeouts and one walk in three innings.

Fox allowed two unearned runs on two hits with one walk in two innings in relief.

Pelham also defeated Prattville 6-4 in the tournament, while falling to Sumiton Christian 6-0 and Baker 4-0.
