Indian Springs finishes fourth at state tournament

The Indian Springs School boys’ tennis team finished fourth in team standings at the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 3A-1A state tournament April 23-24 in Montgomery.

Indian Springs racked up 30 points, which put them nine points behind third-place finisher Altamont. Montgomery Academy won the Class 3A-1A championship with 57 points.

John Canfield led Indian Springs with a runner-up finish in his singles’ bracket after advancing to the No. 3 singles’ championship match.

Canfield fell to Brian Brunskile of Houston Academy 6-2, 7-6, 6-4 in the No. 3 singles’ championship match.

Ben Goodman of Indian Springs fell to Hunter Carroll of Montgomery Academy 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles’ bracket semifinals. Jacob Thigpen of Indian Springs fell to Trent Kennegieter of Bayside Academy 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles’ bracket semifinals.

Ethan White of Indian Springs fell to Holt Harvey of Altamont 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles’ bracket semifinals. Jack Dillard of Indian Springs fell to Fox Carlson of Trinity Presbyterian 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles’ bracket semifinals.

Jake Shuford of Indian Springs fell to Sam Miller of Decatur Heritage 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles’ bracket quarterfinals.

Thigpen and Canfield fell to Hunter Carroll and Guy Hood of Montgomery Academy 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 in the No. 1 doubles’ bracket quarterfinals. Goodman and White fell to  Bo Torbert and Bonner McLemore of Montgomery Academy 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) in the No. 2 doubles’ bracket quarterfinals.

Shuford and Dillard fell to Dylan Fullilove and Christian Smoke of Altamont 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) in the No. 3 doubles’ bracket quarterfinals.
