Alabaster residents will get a chance to buy and sell everything from crafts to hardware at the 2012 Trash to Treasures Extravaganza Saturday, May 12 at Buck Creek Park.

The event will be held from 8 a.m.-noon at the park, which is located at 701 Sixth Avenue Southwest, and will feature 50 booths selling a wide variety of items, said Alabaster Parks and Recreation Athletic Manager Morgan Lawley.

“I’ve seen hardware, any kind of household items, you name it,” Lawley said.

Trash to Treasures will offer bargain seekers to browse a wide range of items while enjoying the city’s spring weather, said Parks and Recreation Senior Clerk Sharon Allen.

Registration for the event began on April 23, and will run through May 9 or until 50 booths sign up, Allen said.

“We’ve already had several people call and register,” Allen said on April 25.

The registration fee is $10, and includes a 20-foot-by-20-foot booth and advertising. Vendors must bring their own table and chairs. Vendors can register on weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Alabaster Parks and Recreation office off Thompson Road.

A charitable organization will be on site at the end of the event for any vendors who wish to donate their unsold items.
