All-star soccer roster loaded with local players

Thirteen high school soccer players and two coaches from Shelby County have been selected to participate in the 16th annual All-Star Sports Week boys’ and girls’ soccer all-star games July 10 in Montgomery.

Seven boys’ players, who are all rising seniors, will play for the North team in the boys’ all-star game.

Oak Mountain defender Wes Sandlin and midfielder Mills Sproull were named to the team, along with Spain Park defender Hudson Carr and midfielder Chris Jaudon.

The North roster also includes Pelham forward Ryan Tapley, Chelsea goalkeeper Josh Carpenter and Westminster School at Oak Mountain defender Wellford Moore.

The North team will be coached by Chelsea coach Lee Miller.

The roster for the girls’ all-star game will include Spain Park forward Simone Charley and defender Grace Connolly, along with Oak Mountain midfielder Toni Payne.

Thompson forward Michaela Graber, Briarwood Christian midfielder Sara Smeltzer and Indian Springs midfielder Paula Simonetti were also selected to participate in the game.

The North team will be coached by Thompson coach Nathan Button.
