Person possibly shot at U.S. 280 apartments

NORTH SHELBY — A person has possibly been shot at the Lakes of Inverness Apartments.

According to a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office press release, the sheriff’s office received a report of a person shot at the Lakes of Inverness Apartments off U.S. 280 around 5 p.m. May 7.

Deputies immediately responded to the area and established a perimeter around an apartment within the complex.

It is not known at this time if anyone has been shot, but all precautions are being taken. No one is currently being allowed in or out of the complex.

Deputies have been attempting to make contact with the caller or others within the apartment.

Residents and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area until this situation has ended.

Lakes of Inverness was formerly known as Cahaba Lakes Apartments, where five men were brutally killed in August 2008 over $450,000 in missing drug cartel money.
