FROM STAFF REPORTS

NORTH SHELBY – Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies found two people deceased in an apartment after responding to an apparent murder-suicide on May 7.

At approximately 5:06 p.m., deputies responded to a “shots fired” call where a person was reported shot at an apartment in the Lakes of Inverness apartments, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies were unable to determine if anyone was in the apartment. A perimeter was established, and residents in surrounding apartments were evacuated. Sheriff’s deputies and Hoover police officers blocked entry to and exit from the complex.

After attempts to contact the residents of the apartment, Shelby County deputies entered the apartment and discovered two people deceased. Marquavious Anderson, a 20-year-old black male, and Linh Tuyet, a 20-year-old Asian female, were pronounced dead on the scene, said Shelby County Coroner Diana New.

New said the two were living together at the apartment and had children together. She said the incident “appears to be a murder-suicide.”

Deputies also located a young child physically unharmed, and paramedics checked the child before uniting the child with family members, according to the release.
