Montevallo duo honored by NCBWA

University of Montevallo sophomore second baseman Will Fulmer and senior first baseman Heath Peterson were recently honored by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Fulmer was named second team All-Region, while Peterson received an honorable mention selection.

This is Fulmer’s first All-Region selection, while Peterson was named Second Team Preseason All-Region by the NCBWA.

Fulmer hit .361 with 51 runs scored, 16 doubles, a homerun and 28 RBI. He had a .447 slugging percentage and a .443 on-base percentage. He was 7-of-10 in stolen bases and set the Peach Belt Conference record for hits in a season (conference games only). He was named First Team All-Conference.

Fulmer ranks in the top-10 in the conference in hits, at bats, runs, doubles, hit by pitches, batting average and on-base percentage. He tied the UM All-Time Record for hits in a game earlier this season with five against Armstrong. He also ranks 12th in the NCAA in hits.

Peterson hit .332 with 45 runs scored, 13 doubles, a triple, 14 homeruns and 69 RBI. He had a .602 slugging percentage and a .402 on-base percentage. He was 5-of-9 in stolen bases and was named First Team All-Conference. He ranks second in the PBC in homeruns and RBI.

Peterson ranks in the top-10 in total bases, hit by pitches, sacrifice flies and slugging percentage. He ranks fourth in the NCAA in RBI and 14th in homeruns.
