The Pelham City Council will hold a special-called meeting to vote on new city telecommunication and data agreements, and on a liquor license for a north Pelham convenience store.

The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on May 24 at Pelham City Hall.

During the meeting, the council will decide if the city will enter into a telecommunications maintenance agreement with AT&T and if it will enter into an Internet connection agreement with the InLine company.

By entering into the new contracts, the city likely will save about 14 percent on the telecommunications maintenance agreement and will save about $7,000 per month on the Internet connection agreement, said Pelham City Clerk Tom Seale.

“It’s a significant savings,” Seale said.

The council called the special meeting to vote on the matter before the contract quotes expired at the end of the month. The council’s next regular meeting originally was set for June 4.

During the special-called meeting, the council also will vote on retail beer and retail table wine licenses for Pelham Food and Grocery, which is located at 1908 U.S. 31 near the Pelham-Hoover line.
