Johnnie Lou Beard, age 63, of Alabaster, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Omega Cox; husband, James Albert Beard; daughter, Carolyn Lynn Whitfield; granddaughter, Hannah Renae Jarvis; and great-grandson, James David Best.

“I made it to Gatlinburg and back.”

“I’ve gone home, I’m hurting no more, I’ll be waiting for you, when the gates you come through.”

She is survived by her son, Rodney Whitfield (Teresa); daughter, Angie Jarvis (Jerry ‘Kat’); brother, Farris Lee ‘Bud’ Cox (Julie); sisters, Louise Smith (Ray), Shirley Hosmer (Terry) and Patsy Honeycutt (David); grandchildren, Contessa, Chris, Jeremy, Nick, Katie and Lacie; and great-grandchildren, J.T., Braxton and Joshua.

Visitation was held Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel Montevallo. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 18, 2012 at noon at Amazing Grace Worship Center with Bro. Bruce Smart and Bro. Kevin Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Rockco Funeral Home Montevallo directing.
