UM women’s basketball assistant hired at Northwestern State

University of Montevallo women’s basketball assistant coach Brittany Godsey was recently named an assistant coach at Division I Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La.

Godsey will be in charge of recruiting and post players for the Lady Demons.

Godsey has spent the last two seasons at Montevallo serving as assistant coach and interim head coach. Before Montevallo, she worked at Belhaven University, Southern Mississippi and North Alabama.

In her time at Montevallo, Godsey spent most of the 2010-2011 season as the interim head coach, taking over six games into the season. She led the Falcons to their first-ever appearance in the Peach Belt Conference tournament, where Montevallo fell to eventual Division II National Champion Clayton State University.

As an assistant in the 2011-2012 season, she helped the Falcons reach the Peach Belt Conference tournament, their second straight appearance.

Godsey will join the staff of co-head coaches Brooke and Scott Stoehr. Godsey was an assistant along side Brooke Stoehr at the University of Southern Mississippi early in her career.
