Deputies arrested Montevallo resident Phillip Earl Lucas and charged him with one count of first-degree assault. The arrest came after deputies responded to a shooting report at about 12:25 a.m. on June 23 at a residence in the 1500 block of Clay Pit Road in Montevallo.

When deputies arrived, they discovered an adult male victim had been shot in the legs, according to a sheriff’s department press release. The victim was then transported to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Shortly after responding to the incident, deputies arrested Lucas and transported him to the Shelby County Jail. As of June 25, Lucas had been released on a $20,000 bond.
