COLUMBIANA – In honor of America’s birthday, the Shelby County Humane Society will charge only $17.76 for adoption fees for the month of July.

“It was such a success last year that we wanted to repeat it,” Executive Director Sara Shirley said. “The sad truth is that they’re coming in faster than we can find homes for them.”

This year, Shelby Humane Society will also waive adoption fees for active military and veterans.

In a press release, Shirley stated the goal for the monthlong adoption event is to find homes for at least 177 homeless pets.

All pets adopted from Shelby Humane Society have been spayed or neutered, have received age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, have received a medical check-up and have been microchipped. Additionally, each pet comes with 30 days of pet insurance.

Adoptable animals can be seen at Shelbyhumane.org and during adoption hours at the shelter in Columbiana, Tuesday-Saturday from noon-5:30 p.m. Please call 669-3916 ext. 21 with any questions.
