James Edward Owen, age 81, of Calera, died July 4, 2012. He was born in Ala. on March 27, 1931, to the late Clayton and Lona Elizabeth Owen.

His survivors included his loving wife of 55 years, Joy Adams Owen of Calera; sons, Jerry L. Stringfield (Watking) of Birmingham and Gary L. Stringfield (April) of Shelby; daughter, Diane Owen Glass of Shelby; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

There was a graveside service in Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11 a.m. Brother Joe Sizemore officiated. Arrangements were under the directing of Charter Funeral Home.
